In 2004 I read a book by Robert Kiyosaki called Cashflow Quadrant and I sort of lost my mind. I pulled equity out of my home and started buying real estate property out of state sight unseen. At first, everything was fantastic. Properties were appreciating before we were even out of escrow and I thought I was a genius.
In 2006 it all started to crumble. I quit my job and got into the mortgage business full time. All of my assets and income were tied to real estate and the market crashed. I wandered for about a year and a half trying to outwork my stupidity but that only left me broke and bitter.
In late 2007 I heard about Dave Ramsey and read his book Total Money Makeover and it forever changed my life. My wife and I immediately implemented Dave’s principles and for the first time ever in our marriage we felt we had a plan that actually works.
In January of 2008 I flew to Tennessee, the home of Dave Ramsey and his team to be trained as a Certified Financial Counselor. Since that time I have taught over 500 people these very principles and in the process have helped them to improve their financial position by $2.5M. We have done this by leading Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University.
I am now taking the years of practice and training and bringing this directly to individuals, married couples and business owners.
